In 2019, Jamnik acquired the ISO 22000 standard for indirect contact with food. As a result, our production process has moved to a higher hygiene standard, and consequently we now apply stricter control over documentation and records.
If this offer includes products in which food will be packaged (this means anything that can be eaten or drunk, including animal feed), you must observe the instructions below regarding the selection of materials and colors. Please notify our sales representative so that the offer can be adjusted accordingly, if you consider this necessary.
The guidelines our company follows are Regulation No. 1935/2004. In addition to other legal regulations, we also comply with the Food Hygiene Regulation No. 852/2004 and the Food Safety Culture Regulation No. 382/2021, all of which are available online.
- Recycled materials (GD2, GT2, GT4) do come with declarations from the board supplier stating that they are suitable for direct contact with dry, non-fatty food, but these declarations change over the years. If you choose such a material, you must assess for yourself, based on the content and purpose of your packaging, whether it meets your requirements, and arrange for a suitable barrier if necessary. Supplier declarations are available from your sales representative.
- Materials made from primary fibers (GC2, GC1) are suitable for direct contact with food and come with the necessary supplier declarations. If you want to package food in the packaging (with or without a barrier), it is advisable to also use food-grade inks and low-migration varnish, which you must inform us of when requesting a quote. Supplier declarations are available from your sales representative.
- FSP inks and LMQ varnish, which are suitable for food use, are more expensive, and production using them is slower. Declarations of suitability for the food industry are available from your sales representative. Note that food must not be placed directly on the ink without a suitable barrier.
- When requesting a quote, the customer is required to state the intended use of the packaging, whether the food has a suitable barrier, the requirements for producing the packaging, and whether there is a need to use FSP inks and LMQ varnish. The intended production method is stated on the offer.
- Glass, stainless steel, aluminum, and iron provide a 100% barrier.
