How is litho-laminated packaging created?
Litho-laminated packaging is created through a process called litho-lamination. Litho-lamination in the broadest sense of the word means gluing a layer of printed matter onto another material. In the production process of litho-laminated packaging, a printed sheet of cardboard is glued onto corrugated cardboard, which can be of various thicknesses. This method of producing cardboard packaging is extremely popular and especially suitable for larger packaging. For the production of litho-laminated packaging, hard cardboard of lower grammage is usually used, while in this industry, two-layer, three-layer, and even five-layer corrugated cardboard are the most commonly used.
Litho-lamination has numerous advantages.
Litho-lamination additionally strengthens the packaging. Since it is litho-laminated packaging, i.e., packaging glued together from several layers, this provides it with additional structural strength. As such, packaging made in the litho-lamination process is more durable, has a higher load-bearing capacity, there is less risk of it tearing when carrying the product, it can be stacked more safely on top of each other, and of course, it better protects its contents.
